BUSHIDO
Bushido
Bushido is a web and mobile platform built for independent artists to manage, publish, and grow their music careers. It gives creators full control of their catalog, audience insight, and revenue, while simplifying the complicated workflows behind distribution and engagement. The platform blends intuitive user experience with powerful tools — analytics, uploads, fan interaction — making it easier for artists to focus on what matters most: creating.

Project Description
Bushido is a web and mobile platform designed to empower independent artists by giving them full ownership over their music, data, and audience relationships. Unlike traditional streaming platforms, Bushido combines fan engagement, analytics, and distribution tools to create a fairer ecosystem for creators.
I joined during an early stage of the product’s evolution, helping refine its user experience, simplify complex artist workflows, and shape the visual identity of the platform. My contributions focused on making core tasks—uploading music, managing releases, analyzing performance—more intuitive, transparent, and scalable for artists at any stage.
01 — THE PROBLEM
Independent artists lack control over their rights and ownership data.
Incorrect or incomplete metadata often leads to:
Lost royalties
Misattributed credits
Incorrect ISRC registration
Delayed payouts
Duplicate or mismatched tracks
At the same time, most platforms offer no meaningful way to verify a track’s authenticity or connect a creator’s identity to their work.
Bushido set out to fix this by creating a transparent, metadata-driven ecosystem that could do more than display numbers —
it needed to validate ownership, reward quality, and enrich the artist experience.
02 — MY ROLE & CONTRIBUTIONS
✓ Metadata Intelligence & Bushido Signature Logic
One of the core contributions I made was designing the logic and UX around the Bushido Signature — a smarter, enhanced version of ISRC that:
Adds a geographic identifier based on the artist’s ZIP code
Adds a unique rightsholder ID
Creates a more accurate ownership fingerprint
Supports cleaner metadata pipelines
Helps reduce mismatched tracks
I helped structure how this data would surface in the product and how artists would interact with it.
✓ Royalty Notifications & Integrity Score UX
We explored a system where creators receive real-time royalty notifications tied to their Bushido Signature.
I also designed the early concepts of the Bushido Integrity Score, which rewarded:
High-quality metadata
Unique content
Verified ownership
This score could unlock higher payout percentages (up to 90%), giving artists a real incentive to maintain clean, trustworthy data.
✓ Personalized User Experience from Metadata
I worked on patterns that used metadata to personalize the platform:
Tailored insights based on track performance
Customized dashboards based on artist role (producer / performer / writer)
Accurate credits surfaced automatically
Contextual prompts to improve metadata quality
These features transformed metadata from “background noise” into something artists could understand and use.
03 — KEY SCREENS / FEATURES
1. Bushido Signature System
A modernized version of ISRC built around:
ZIP-based geographic identifier
Unique rightsholder ID
Automatic metadata validation
Enhanced ownership confidence
2. Integrity Score
A visual system that rewards:
Clean metadata

A track hits a new revenue milestone
A payout is processed
Metadata discrepancies are detected
4. Personalized Dashboard via Metadata
Dashboards shift based on:
Artist’s role
Track behaviors
Metadata completeness
This turns data into guidance.
5. Metadata-Driven Track Page

Final Reflections
Working on Bushido was an exercise in turning complexity into clarity.
Beyond the UI and branding, the most meaningful part of this project was designing the logic and experience behind how tracks, ownership, metadata, and royalties connect.
I helped shape:
A modernized ISRC-like system (Bushido Signature)
A metadata-driven personalization engine
A quality-based Integrity Score that could boost payouts
Transparent, artist-friendly ways to understand revenue and ownership
This project strengthened my ability to simplify highly technical systems and to design products where data and design work together to empower creators.
